
Jessica Simon
PartnerJessica Simon’s practice focuses on distressed debt and insolvency matters, with substantial experience advising clients, including commercial landlords, lenders, financial institutions and asset managers, on restructuring, out-of-court-workouts, liquidations, collateral recovery and receiverships, executory contract and unexpired leases, contract disputes, nonjudicial and judicial foreclosures, and bankruptcy risks involving secured and unsecured debt. She also has experience representing clients in insolvency matters involving distressed digital assets, and has represented various commercial entities in arbitration and mediation.
Ms. Simon received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she graduated with class honors, and she earned her law degree from American University, Washington College of Law, D.C., where she graduated cum laude. She subsequently clerked for the Honorable David A. Ezra, United States District Court, District of Hawaii and the Honorable Mary Ellen Barbera, Maryland Court of Special Appeals.
Ms. Simon has over 10 years of BigLaw experience representing creditors in local and national bankruptcy cases, including but not limited to Ascena, A’Gaci, Cinemex, JC Penney, L’Occitane, Forever 21, Tailored Brands, Claire’s, Radio Shack, Lucky Brand, Brooks Brothers, J. Crew, The Paper Store, Sur La Table, Eastman Kodak Co., NPC International, Retailwinds, Tuesday Morning, CEC Entertainment, GNC, 24 Hour Fitness, Quicksilver, Haggen, and American Apparel. She also represented the FDIC-Receiver in Vineyard National Bancorp, 1st Centennial Bancorp, and Alliance Bancshares California.
Ms. Simon has served as a panelist at Innovating Commerce Serving Communities (ICSC) conferences, and previously served on the Insolvency Law Committee of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of California. She is a member of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC).
Ms. Simon has served as a volunteer on numerous pro bono matters, including authoring a model law on green commercial leases as part of Legal Pathways to Deep Decarbonization (LPDD), see lpdd.org, serving as a panelist at a General Assembly of the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty, and representing a client to gain asylum in the United States.
Ms. Simon is an active member of the California and Hawaii bars.
